Usually when a player called up from the minors is told he’ll be sticking for the season, he’ll get a place of his own, or move in with a veteran. Not so Jurco, who is delighted with his suite at a downtown hotel.
“I brought my Xbox and they brought a huge TV for me and I just set it up right in front of my bed,” he said. “It’s nice to leave for practice and come back and my bed is set up again, nicely.”
Upper-scale hotels often leave mints or chocolates on guests’ pillows, but Jurco pointed out this would be uneconomical in his case. “They would have to buy too much chocolate for me,” he said, “since I’ve been there three months.”
